Uncovering healthcare blind spots and tailoring solutions for lasting impact

What are Health Care Blind Spots

Healthcare blind spots are gaps in medical training, treatments, communication, research, health financing, policy-making, technology accessibility, diagnostic accuracy, imaging quality, cultural understanding, mental health support, supply chain management, and public health preparedness. These blind spots occur when healthcare systems, policies, and innovations do not take into account the diverse needs of all populations, leading to unequal care, financial challenges, delayed or inaccurate diagnoses, and preventable loss of life.

What we do

At Health Care Blind Spots Consultancy, we work with clients—including governments, global health organizations, medical and nursing schools, biomedical companies, private clinics, media companies, and other organizations—to identify gaps in their products, services, and systems. By addressing these gaps, we help clients improve their offerings to better serve diverse populations, meet their needs more effectively, and build trust within the communities they serve. Our mission is to guide our clients toward creating practical and sustainable healthcare solutions that have a meaningful and lasting impact.

Lack of Representation in Medical Training: Many medical textbooks and training materials predominantly feature conditions as they appear on lighter skin tones. This leaves clinicians less prepared to identify conditions in darker skin, where presentations can differ significantly.

  • Example: Erythema (skin redness) is often subtle or missed in darker skin because it may appear as purplish or brownish tones rather than the characteristic red seen in lighter skin.
